Choosing Books on our Library
Students choosing books from our Library.
We have taken great care in creating environments that set the stage for learning and growing throughout our school building. Our library community room is a fine example of an inviting space where our children can find an assortment of books available to investigate, take to their classrooms, and check out weekly to be read together at home.

Our focus is to have a variety of opportunities for children to explore books that cover topics across many content areas and concepts. We are pleased with the rich collection of book titles and magazines that we have in place that are fiction and non-fiction in areas such as ABC’s, animals, cultural groups, math concepts, fairy tales, human body, general fiction, friends, families, food, seasons, poetry, crafts and much more.

We have many shared book reading experiences for the children during library time, often times puppet shows take place to engage children in the wonderful stories available, as well as offering many informal opportunities for children to explore books on their own.

Children will be able to find book displays that support our 21st century language focus through our many Spanish and Mandarin Chinese books that cover numbers, colors, families, and famous titles in Spanish such as Brown Bear,Brown Bear. If you want to be a part of building these skills through fun and factual books, please feel free to check out some of these books to include in your story time at home.

Teachers coordinate books with ongoing classroom investigations so children always have great fiction and non-fiction books at their fingertips while exploring topics in the classroom.

It is a delight to see children embracing reading through our book selections, puppets, flannel boards, listening centers, and colorful literacy bags that are filled with great books, story manipulatives, and activities.

Our library community room has expanded to include a media room where children can use computers and software to engage in books, write stories, and practice skills as they increase their love for literacy. We welcome you as partners in your child’s reading journey to come in and read to classes or tell a story during library time.
