What are Equivalent Activities

The development of Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDPs) has made it possible to accept a variety of professional development activities which may be used to renew your teaching certificate/license.

Equivalent activities will be eligible for credit if they meet the standards established by the Test Site Local Professional Development Committee.

Equivalent activities should result in a tangible product such as, but not limited to, the following: a book, article, report, curriculum, training module, video, pilot project, software package, etc.

Persons wishing approval of an equivalent activity will be asked to justify the value of their activity on the request form.

Regular duties of your current position are not eligible for credit.

Arrow Icon In general, the following activities may be approved by the LPDC for incorporating into your IPDP.
Please refer to the Equivalent Activities Options Chart for more details.

If you have an equivalent activity that you would like to receive credit for then please check the Equivalent Activities Options Chart for submission requirements.

Many of the equivalent activities require you to keep an “activity time log.” A sample of such a log can be downloaded HERE. Please maintain the log while you are completing the activity. Do not attempt to reconstruct the time line after the activity is completed.
