Early Learning &
School Readiness

The Early Learning and School Readiness Coordinator, Sarah Jackson, provides services to school districts, Head Starts, County Boards of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD), parents, Help Me Grow/Early Intervention Collaborative Groups, and other agencies and programs that serve children ages birth through eight, both regular and special education. Services are designed to support successful involvement with Ohio’s Early Learning and Academic Content Standards and to support compliance with state and federal requirements. Services include:

  • Technical Assistance Areas
    • Early Learning Content Standards
    • Early Learning Program Guidelines
    • Get It, Got It, Go
    • Ages and Stages Questionnaire Social Emotional (ASQ-SE)
    • KRAL
    • Identification, alignment and implementation of a curriculum framework
    • Literacy acquisition and interventions
    • Program capacity building through the Early Childhood Systems Model
    • Monitoring and program evaluation
    • Transition from early intervention to preschool
    • Transition from preschool to kindergarten
    • Federal and state rules and regulations
    • Presentations designed for local needs
  • Collaboration:
    • Networking opportunities among regional early childhood programs
    • Linkages with local, regional and state agencies
    • Interagency agreement facilitation
    • Parent involvement
  • Consultations:
    • District leadership teams, teacher leaders, teachers, related services providers, administrators, and parents
  • Coordination with Ohio Department of Education/Office of Early Learning and School Readiness:
    • Support of state, regional, and local initiatives
    • Support of quality comprehensive services for young children and families

During the 2008-2009 school year, State Support Team will highlight technical assistances in the area of curriculum implementation in early childhood settings to support Early Learning Program Guidelines implementation
